Conservation for community

Every countries have different cultures with different stories. Communities live and work in towns and cities; society changes so does urban form, responding to change and growth. In today’s pace of economic development, such historical buildings often perceived as inefficient unproductive and even inconvenient. Most of the developer owners thought they can't do anything with their heritage properties. They are often replaced with buildings that appear contemporary and more efficient. This caused a lead of community migration towards newer and developed areas. Heritage conservation doesn't mean freezing a building in time, by just creating a museum. Instead, it seeks to maintain and also increase the value of buildings by keeping their original built form and architectural elements.

The design objectives are to study the history, original identity and architecture characteristics in Ahmedabad, India. To analyze housing typology of Pol House and understand the importance of implementing heritage conservation and regeneration initiatives towards community. Due to the pandemic, the travel research to Ahmedabad, India has been extended.
